Dear PHS Music Parents,

 

The PHS Music Department and Friends of Pomperaug Music is asking for your help to support music education and maintain a fun community at the high school.

 

About Friends of Pomperaug Music:

Friends of Pomperaug Music, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that was formed in 1999 by concerned parents of Region 15 music students, with the simple purpose of providing opportunities for students to succeed through continuous excellence in music.

 

What We Do:

Each year we support the music program through initiatives such as:

• Donating the video monitor outside the auditorium, sound equipment and risers

• Funding concert uniforms

• Providing chaperones for music field trips

• Subsidizing student fees for families in need

• Visiting Artist Program

• Hot cocoa for the band at home football games

• Concert uniform distribution and collection

• Music Department fundraiser pie pick-up support

• Concessions sales at concerts and other shows

• Concert Flower Sales

• Music-Themed Pewter Collectibles and Ornament Sales

• Provide water for the NYC St. Patrick’s Day Parade

 

We also fund the annual D’Angelo Music Scholarship, which is awarded to one or two graduating seniors planning to pursue music.  See the Scholarship page on our website for more information and a list of all our past recipients.

 

Coming Back After COVID:

With the program handicapped for the last two years, Friends of Pomperaug Music was put on hold.  Now the music is back in swing, we find ourselves with a team whose kids have graduated on and current parents who may not be aware of our organization.  We would like to do whatever possible to help Friends of Pomperaug Music get back on its feet and support a new group of parents to carry on the tradition.

 

Also, we need new board members!
