Linda Hughes Music Scholarship
The Linda Hughes Music Scholarship was created in 2023 by the board member of Friends of Pomperaug Music, Inc. to honor Pomperaug High School's beloved music teacher, Linda Hughes.

Ms. Hughes taught in Region 15 for over 38 years, starting at Memorial Middle School and the continuing as Director of Vocal and Orchestra for PHS until she retired in 2023. Her musical guidance and warm presence made her a favorite with students. Not only by making a positive impact on their time at Pomperaug, but also with encouraging them to always keep music in their lives. We couldn't think of a better way to honor her for being an amazing teacher and mentor!

This scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior that isn't necessarily pursuing music as their major in college, but has shown their commitment and dedication to music (band, orchestra, or vocal) while attending PHS.

D'ANGELO MUSIC SCHOLARSHIP
Every year we award a scholarship to
graduating senior(s) planning to pursue music.
​
The scholarship is named after Robert (Bob) D'Angelo, who was a beloved Director of Bands at Pomperaug High School for 20 years. He was Teacher of the Year in 2001 and retired in 2012.
The D'Angelo Music Scholarship is for a student majoring in music including education, performance, composition, recording or the music industry. The recipient of the scholarship is chosen by the Music Department faculty.
